How to Empty Temporary Files when IE Closed

The Temporary Internet Files (or cache) folder contains Web page content that is stored on your hard disk for quick viewing. This cache permits Internet Explorer or MSN Explorer to download only the content that has changed since you last viewed a Web page, instead of downloading all the content for a page every time it is displayed.

  • Open the Control Panel from the Start menu.
  • Open Internet Options in the Control Panel.

Note: If Internet Options is not available, change View by to Large icons at the top right of the Control Panel.

  • Select the Advanced tab in the Internet Properties window.
  • Check off Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed and then click OK to save the changes.
